If currently in the community you MUST have been active in your primary department for at least 2 weeks prior to applying. Must have not received a 10-60 for one week prior to applying. Must be able to understand the rules as written in the SOP. You also must be able to follow the Conduct of the Civ SOP.
When conducting yourself as a civilian, it is important to integrate a backstory, or a thought out attitude for the character you are playing. Whether the character is having a bad day, or dealing with a mental problem. (Dispatch would have notified officers of any mental problems, depending on the call) Officers have to deal with a variety of different people on different circumstances everyday. Conduct yourself as a civilian, and picture how you would attempt the scenario in real life, before putting your civilian character through the situation. Unrealistic situations is a no go, and really big situations should be planned out through out all the civilians and dispatch.
